People Search and Extensibility in SharePoint 2013

If you are attending SPC12 and haven’t booked your session slot for Tuesday at 1:45PM yet, you might want to walk yourself over to #SPC191 and attend the session I’m presenting together with Sana Khan from Microsoft. [Add it to MySPC]

I will also be at the O'Reilly booth Monday at 3:15pm-3:45pm if you want to drop by for a chat about FAST Search for SharePoint 2010 or search in general.

The session is a deep dive session and even though it’s tagged for developers it should be well suited for many others as well. The first part of the session will be handled by Sana whom will take you through the out of the box options of people and expertise search. Then I will take over and show how you easily can leverage LOB data to make the user profiles and people search even more powerful.

Further I will show, with not much code at all, how you can utilize the social following capabilities of SharePoint 2013 to make finding content for YOU even better.
Topics and tools you will see in the session:
  • Visual Studio 2012
  • BCS
  • OData
  • Query Rules
  • Display Templates and Hover Panels
  • Advanced KQL (Keyword Query Language)
Code from my demos will be released at http://spsearchparts.codeplex.com.
